1.Hogenakkal Water Falls: Hogenakkal is a waterfall in South India on the Kaveri river in the Dharmapuri district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located 180 km (110 mi) from Bangalore and 46 km (29 mi) from Dharmapuri. Sometimes referred to as the “Niagara Falls of India.” One of the most popular activities at Hogenakkal Falls is the coracle ride. One needs to be there to feel the beauty of this place. The small boat rides, the gushing water and the view makes one realise the varying shapes that nature can take just like one’s own mind. Peaceful at times and vibrant and chaotic at other times. The coracle ride is an amazing experience and one must visit this place especially immediately after monsoons.

2. Melagiri Hills: Melagiri hills stretch across Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts. This hill is the meeting point of the Eastern and Western Ghats. The main attraction here is the trek to Gutherayan peak. They have shola vegetation forests spread across. Also, some rare species of birds can be seen, like green Pigeon and Egyptian vultures. One can also spot one horned antelopes in these valleys. Melagiri Hills is a heaven for an amateur trekker looking for some adventure! The peak is hardly 3 km from the base. One has to climb many boulders and dodge a lot of thorny shrubs to trek the way to the peak. From here, one can see the entire village! This is yet another excellent place to relax and enjoy the view.

3. Theerthamalai Temple: The Theerthamalai temple, also known as Theerthagirishwarar Temple. In Tamil, the name “Theerthamalai” refers to Hill with Holy Water. It is said that Lord Rama had performed two Shiva Pooja in his lifetime.  The earlier one was at Rameshwaram and the latter was here in Theerthamalai. It is believed that Lord Sri Rama worshiped Lord Shiva in this temple after winning the war against Ravana.

4. Hanuman Theertha: Hanuman Theertham Temple is a dedicated to Lord Hanuman, steeped in ancient lore and spiritual significance. This place is located on the banks of the South Pennar River. The temple is also said to be the place where Lord Rama performed the ashwamedha yaga. The temple is visited by pilgrims from all over the country. According to Hindu mythology, it is a belief that Lord Hanuman threw away a vessel of Ganga water in this particular place. There is a spring in the place, and the water flows from the rock. The water is very sweet in nature, and it is true that this water never dries up even when the river is dry.

5. Thiyagi Subramanya Siva Memorial, Papparapatti: A Must visit place in Dharmapuri to know about our Freedom Fighters. This Memorial was built for Thiyagi Subramanya Siva, who was a revolutionary freedom fighter from Tamil Nadu. He closely worked with V.O. Chidambaram Pillai and Subramanya Bharathy and inspired many young men to join the freedom movement. Siva was the first political prisoner in the Madras Presidency. This place gives a patriotic feeling.

6. Krishnagiri Dam: This is a good place for a one-day picnic. Krishnagiri dam is one of the oldest reservoirs built during the period of the chief minister, Kamarajar in Krishnagiri. The view of the dam is marvelous, especially on a blue sky day. This dam has greener parks and play games like swings and slides for kids, which is a good attraction for kids. There is a deer park where there are a good number of deer.

7. Kottai Kovil:

This temple is dedicated to God Mallikarjuneswarar and Goddess Kamatchi Ambal. It has been located at 1 km from Dharmapuri Bus stand. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old.  One of the highlights of this temple is the ‘Hanging pillar’. There are two hanging pillars(with out touching the ground) weighing 2.5 tons! The devotees can clearly see a 2 cm space between the base and the pillar!

8. Adhiyaman Kottai: Adhiyamankottai is one of the oldest forts in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. The fort has been built by King Adhiyaman. The main attraction of Adhiyaman Kottai is the statue of Adhiyaman receiving a gooseberry from Avvaiyar – a famous Tamil Poetess. The fort doesn’t exist now. It is only the ruins if the fort seen now which is almost just only the short wall now. The fort passes through a lake and this lake is considered to be very auspicious by the locals. The fort premises also houses a temple called Chenraya Perumal Temple which was built during the Hoysala Empire. This temple is a fine example of Khajuraho architectural style as many erotic expressions sculptures can be seen.

9. Chenraya Perumal Temple: Chenraya Perumal Temple is one of the famous Perumal temples in Dharmapuri. This temple is located within the premises of Adhiyaman Kottai. Chenraya Temple was built during the Hoysala Empire in 12th C CE and was further expanded by Krishna DevaRaya of the Vijayanagara Empire. There are   paintings in the ceiling depicting scenes from the Mahabaratham,  Viswarupa dharshan of Lord Krishna and some scenes from Ramayana and is still pleasing to the eye.  All the paintings are belonging to 13 century. Must visit temple especially for spiritual people.

10. Crocodile Rehabilitation Center: Located about 1 kilometer away from the Hogenekal Falls at Dharmapuri. This Crocodile rehabilitation center has around 200 crocodiles of various shapes, sizes and colors. One can witness from lovely tiny crocs to giant sized ones housed in various cages. Another highlight is this place offers the most closest looks of the animals compared to any other parks. Mugger or Marsh variety species are taken care of at this center. This Crocodile Rehabilitation Center is maintained by Tamil Nadu Forest Department.

11. Kala Bairavar Temple : There are only two Kalabairavar Temples available in India. One of them is Dharmapuri Kalabairavar Temple. It is an old temple situated about 10 km from Dharmapuri. The temple has a unique presence of sacred vehicles, including Nandi and a dog, which sets it apart from other temples where only the dog is typically associated with Bhairava. The idol of kalabairavar is very beautiful. The anterior hall ceiling is divided into nine parts like a horoscope squares, each representing one planet. According to the rashi (zodiac) of a devotee, the devotee is asked to see one part of the body of the Lord. E.g. mesha rashi devotees will concentrate on the head, Rishabh rashi on the face etc.

12. Sir Thomas Munro Pillar: This pillar was erected by the government of Madras to mark the association of Dharmapuri with SIR THOMAS MUNRO who lived here from April 1792 to March 1799 as Assistant to the Superintendent of Revenue in the BARAMAHAL. His house and his favourite garden where few yards away from this place.

13. Mount Carmel Church: The Mount Carmel Church is a sacred place in Dharmapuri, which is famous for its Grotto festival. This festival is celebrated on the second Friday after Easter. During this festival, a three day feast is organized, and devotees throng the church to seek the blessings of the Lord. The church is located in B. Pallipatty. This church is one of the major tourist attractions of the area.
