E.V.R.Maniammaiyar Ninaivu Marriage Assistance Scheme for Daughter’s of Poor Widows is provided by the government of Tamil Nadu. To help the poor widow mothers who face financial hardship in conducting their daughter’s marriage by providing financial assistance for the marriage of their daughters.
This assistance is provided for the widows during the marriage of their daughters. The assistance is provided in the form of two schemes.
- Under Scheme–I, the government provides ₹25,000 through cheque and gives an 8-gram (1 sovereign) 22-carat gold coin for making the Thirumangalyam (mangalsutra).
- Under Scheme–II, the government provides ₹50,000 through cheque and gives an 8-gram (1 sovereign) 22-carat gold coin to make the Thirumangalyam (mangalsutra).
Eligibility Requirements for E.V.R.Maniammaiyar Ninaivu Marriage Assistance Scheme
The eligibility criteria for those who opt for this assistance under scheme-I will be as follows:
- The bride should have passed 10th standard (In case of Scheduled Tribe, the bride should have studied upto 5th standard)
- The income of the family should not exceed Rs.72,000/- per annum.
- The bride should have completed 18 years of age, at the time of marriage.
- The bride’s mother should be a widow.
- The Applicant should come from the state of Tamil Nadu.
The eligibility criteria for those who opt for this assistance under scheme-II will be as follows:
1.The bride should be a Degree or Diploma Holder from Government approved colleges.
2.The income of the family should not exceed Rs.72,000/- per annum.
3.The bride should have completed 18 years of age, at the time of marriage.
4. The bride’s mother should be a widow.
5. The Applicant should come from the state of Tamil Nadu.
This E.V.R. Maniammaiyar Ninaivu Poor widow Daughter’s marriage assistance scheme is eligible for the bride who fulfills the above said criteria.
NOTE: A poor widow can avail this scheme for only one of her daughters, even if she has more than one. The government grants the assistance to only one eligible daughter in such cases.

Who will get this assistance?
The assistance will be given in the name of widowed mother. In case, mother is not surviving then the assistance will be given to the bride.

The applicant should fulfill the above said criteria, in order to avail this facility. Only one daughter of poor widow is eligible to avail this benefit. If the applicant fulfill this criteria then they will get the amount of Rs. 25,000/- and 8 Grams of Gold Coin or Rs.50,000/- and 8 grams of Gold coin based on the education qualification of the bride. The fund will be issued in the form of cheque or demand draft.

One has to apply for this scheme, 45 days before the date of marriage.Authorities accept applications one day before the marriage only in exceptional circumstances. They do not consider applications submitted on or after the marriage date, so applicants must apply in advance.
